Dogs on Beaches Policy

  • From 1 May - 30 September 2015 the West Beach (Lyme Regis side of the river) allows dogs on leads beyond the end of the walkway bridge (at the end of the promenade). No dogs are permitted in the area in front of the deflection steps.

  • From 1 July - 31 August the East Beach (Golden Cap side of the river) has a dog restriction between 10am and 6pm.

  • Signs are clearly displayed during the restriction period.

Parish Council Action:

  • If the above restrictions are not being adhered to the Beach Attendant will ask politely that the dog is taken off the beach.

  • If the request is ignored, the WDDC Dog Warden will be called and the owners will be informed of the action being taken.

  • Outside of restriction dates, dogs on the beach must be supervised and under control at all times.

  • Any fouling must be cleared immediately.

  • If persistent foulers are reported to the Parish Council and the name and address are given, a warning letter will be sent.

  • If any dog is left in a car on Parish Council property the Beach Attendant will alert the appropriate authorities.
