Heritage Coast

The Charmouth Heritage Coast Centre.
The Centre was set up in 1985 a partnership between the
DCC WDDC, Parish Council and the Charmouth Society after
a public inquiry into fossilising practices along our
coast. The Centre now plays an important role in the
geological and marine interpretation for both schools and
the general public. As a charity it relies heavily on
donations and support from the district and county
councils, English Nature and others. Most importantly it
depends upon a number of local volunteers that give time
and skills. There are now three professional wardens with
educational skills in the earth sciences.
